When: 9.30am -1.30pm on Tuesday September 26th

This 3-hour workshop is organised by Get Ireland Walking in conjunction with Irish Heart Foundation involves practical sessions and presentations and has the main aims of;

  • encouraging shedders to walk more and walk more often
  • enabling men to get more health benefits from their walking

Participants will;

  • Discover the health benefits of being physically active
  • Learn about the National Physical Activity Guidelines and how they relate to walking
  • Improve walking technique with practical advice on issues such as posture, arm movement and footwork
  • Learn warm up exercises and warm down stretches
  • Discover how to incorporate muscle strengthening and balance exercises into your walk
  • Discuss suitable walking clothing and gear
  • Be guided towards further walking resources and supports

It is advised to wear comfortable shoes and clothing for this workshop.
