When: 9.30am -1.30pm on Tuesday September 26th
This 3-hour workshop is organised by Get Ireland Walking in conjunction with Irish Heart Foundation involves practical sessions and presentations and has the main aims of;
- encouraging shedders to walk more and walk more often
- enabling men to get more health benefits from their walking
Participants will;
- Discover the health benefits of being physically active
- Learn about the National Physical Activity Guidelines and how they relate to walking
- Improve walking technique with practical advice on issues such as posture, arm movement and footwork
- Learn warm up exercises and warm down stretches
- Discover how to incorporate muscle strengthening and balance exercises into your walk
- Discuss suitable walking clothing and gear
- Be guided towards further walking resources and supports
It is advised to wear comfortable shoes and clothing for this workshop.
