Sports First Aid Course
The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership is running a Sports First Aid training workshop on Saturday the 22nd November from 10am to 5pm in UCD Sports Centre.On completion of this course, participants will be certified in emergency response training and be able to provide necessary first aid while awaiting the arrival of the emergency services. First Aid is an essential skill to have particularly when you are dealing with physical or sporting activities.
The course will cover the following areas:
- Accident scene management
- Patient assessment
- Respiratory emergencies
- Cardiac response and defibrillation
- Wounds and bleeding
- Head injuries and unconsciousness
- Fractures and injury to bones
- Burns, scalds and electric shock
There will be a maximum of 14 participants and places must be booked and paid for in advance. The cost for this one-day course is €10 per person (heavily subsidised by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership) and participants must be over 18 years of age.
