VolunteersAwards to recognise the contribution of the 450,000 people who ensure sport in Ireland happens each week

  • EBS, the Mortgage Masters to sponsor awards as part of a wider campaign celebrating the role of the volunteer;
  • 37.2 million hours of volunteering across Ireland’s 14,000+ sports clubs and associations each year;
  • An overall winner from each county will be selected as well as one national “team of volunteers” award and a ‘Lifetime’ award;
  • Closing date for nominations is Friday, 27 September

Today, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin TD officially launched the 2019 Volunteer in Sports Awards, alongside Federation of Irish Sport CEO Mary O’Connor.

The event brings together children (over the age of 8), families, schools and groups for a first of its kind hiking challenge. Participants will embark on a journey of either 8km or 13km over the beautiful Dublin Mountains. No previous experience is necessary just grab your waterproof clothing, suitably warm clothes,runners or hiking boots and a packed lunch and join us for a great cause.

The report provides an overview of the work of the 29 LSPs across the country, and highlights the innovative good practice projects and programmes that are being operated locally.

Over €21 million was invested in the LSP network, including benefit in kind funding.

Job Specification

The Community Sports Development Officer is a 12-month specified purpose contract with a salary that is commensurate with the individual’s skills and experience.

The aim of the Community Sports Development Officer (CSDO) is to strengthen and enhance the capacity of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership to further develop locally led plans and sustainable physical activity programmes under the National Physical Activity Plan (Action 46). Funding for the position of CSDO has been secured through Sport Ireland and is employed through dlr Leisure LTD. Reporting to the Coordinator of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership, the successful candidate will be based in County Hall, Dun Laoghaire.
