Coaching ChildrenDLR Sports Partnership will be running a Certified Coaching Ireland Programme starting the 4th March until 25th March . This will be running for 4 Wednesdays from 6:30-9:30pm in Sliabh Rua Gaelscoil, Ballyogan. The cost of the programme is €20 per particpant (these fees are subsidised through the Ballyogan Sports & Physical Activity Hub and the Dormant Accounts Fund).

Children's needs in sport are different to the needs of other populations; therefore the coaches of children need to be equipped with specific knowledge, skills and competencies to fulfil the needs of children.Children want different things from their sport participation and require different approaches given their stage of development both physically and mentally.

Federation of Irish Sport 1The Federation of Irish Sport today launched their 2020 Irish Sport Industry Awards. This is the fifth year of the awards which were set up to highlight the important role sport plays in the economic life of the country in addition to the many other ways in which it enhances the quality of life and health in Ireland.

The awards focus on the invaluable relationship between business and sport in Ireland. The Sport industry in Ireland supports 40,000 jobs, stimulates €2.4 billion in household spending and generates €1 billion in tourism receipts each year. The awards recognize and reward excellence in the business of sport, while simultaneously highlighting the contribution of sport to Ireland Inc.

The event will be held on Thursday 16th April in Croke Park Stadium.

Nominations are now being accepted for all open categories and can be made via www.irishsportindustryawards.ie. Closing date for applications is Friday 20th of March 2020

South Dublin DLR Poster A4A new and exciting Multi Sports Junior Club for children with a disability and their siblings begins on Sunday 16th February from 12pm -1pm in Our Lady’s School, Terenure.

This club is free to join and new members and volunteers are always welcome. It is suitable for children aged between 5 & 15 years. A variety of sports will be played throughout the year, such as basketball, table tennis, rugby to a name a few, with an emphasis on fun!

This initiative is supported by IWA Sport, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership and South Dublin County Sports Partnership.

0001Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership are setting up a new 6-week walking group on Saturday mornings at 11am for approximately 40 minutes starting on the 25th January. At only €10 for all 6 weeks this programme will cater for all fitness levels, but in particular those looking to get back to activity and exercise. It will be a great excuse to get out, be active and make new friends.

Meeting on front of Marlay Park house, each week the group will walk a different route in the park taking in some of the beautiful views and trails it has to offer.

This will be a fun way to help participants looking to get a bit more active by improving posture, enhanced fitness levels, and fat burning. This walking programme is supported by the HSE Health Promotion Unit.

Men on the Move webAre you aged 30+, male and not very active? Do you want to feel fitter, have fun, have more energy and meet new people? If you do why not get involved in the Men On the Move with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership.

Men on the Move is a free 12-Week physical activity programme aimed at adult men over the age of thirty to support them to become active, have fun and improve their fitness levels in a social group. Participants should benefit from more energy, better weight control, improved mobility, greater functional fitness and overall better wellbeing.
