Monks cAt the National Stadium on Friday 17th June - Matthew Tyndall (age 13) won his 4th All Ireland Title and will be Monkstown BC's first male to represent Ireland at a European Championships.

Matthew booked his place on the Irish Team for the European Schoolboys which will be held in Zagreb, Croatia at the end of July after winning his final by unanimous decision 3/0 against previous Irish Champion Patrick McDonagh (Clonoe BC, Tyrone).

There was hard luck for Liam Kearns (age 12) who was agonisingly beaten by Split Decision 2/1 after 3 non-stop action packed rounds to Jonathan Hughes (Jobstown BC, Tallaght, Dublin). Liam will be eligible for the Cadets again next year as he is a year younger than his counterparts who were all born in 2002.

Monkstown BC Coach and Father Matthew Tyndall Senior had this to say afterwards "We are absolutely delighted for him, he has trained so hard all year round and this is a great reward for all that hard work. Its a fantastic achievement for the club and no doubt we will get a new influx of kids from around the place wanting to emulate him. He is now a four time Irish Champion, he has absolutely nothing to fear at the Europeans, if he performs like he can there is a great chance he could bring home a medal. But he is under no pressure, just go and enjoy the experience and the occasion"
