The Partners of DLRSP
All those statutory bodies, organisations and groups operating in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown with a responsibility for or interest in sports participation and development are invited to participate in the DLR Sports Partnership. This includes the involvement of the Local Authority, VEC, HSE, FÁS, education sector, sports clubs/organisations and voluntary/community groups.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (Irish: Comhairle Chontae Dhún Laoghaire-Ráth an Dúin) is one of three local authorities in the greater Dublin area. It caters for a population of approximately 192,000 persons. Its electoral wards include Ballybrack, Blackrock, Dundrum, Dún Laoghaire, Stillorgan, Glencullen and Stillorgan. Twenty eight members serve on the Council. Local authorities in Ireland are local branches of the Irish Government responsible for the provision of an extensive range of public services in a specific area. In addition, local authorities promote the interests of your local community, including the social, economic, environmental, recreational, cultural, community or general development of your area.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Development Board
The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Development Board was formed in conjunction with thirty-three other county and city development boards throughout Ireland in April 2000. The Board was tasked with preparing a 'shared vision' in the form of a 10-year Strategy relating to the economic, social, and cultural development of the County. The purpose of the strategy is to provide a framework for the co-ordination of services at point of delivery to citizens by addressing the challenge of local service integration at county level. The Strategy was published in June 2002 and covers all major services provided in the County.
Vocational Education Committees (VEC)
There are two VEC's located in the county of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown - one being Dún Laoghaire VEC and the other County Dublin VEC. Both are represented on the Board of the Sports Partnership. The VEC's are providers of education services for both young people and adults in the area, providing a range of educational programmes and support services to support lifelong learning. The Committees are constituted under the Vocational Education Act, passed by Dáil and Seanad Eireann in 1930.
The Health Service Executive
The Health Service Executive (HSE) is responsible for providing Health and Personal Social Services for everyone living in the Republic of Ireland. The HSE was set up as part of the provisions of the Health Act, 2004, which states the objective of the HSE is to provide services that improve, promote and protect the health and welfare of the public. Dún Laoghaire Local Health Office looks after the communities of Dún Laoghaire, Booterstown, Blackrock, Dún Laoghaire, Monkstown, Stillorgan, Sallynoggin, Dalkey, Foxrock, Killiney, Cabinteely, Shankill, & Loughlinstown and provides a wide range of services from the Local Health Office on Tivoli Road.
FÁS
FÁS is Ireland's National Training and Employment Authority which anticipates the needs of, and responds to, a constantly changing labour market which employs over 2 million people. Through a regional network of 66 offices and 20 training centres, FÁS operates training and employment programmes; provides a recruitment service to jobseekers and employers, an advisory service for industry, and supports community-based enterprises.
University College Dublin
Established in 1854, the university played a key role in the history of the modern Irish State and today it plays a leading part in shaping Ireland's future. UCD Sport Centre's mission is to be the best and provide the best opportunities for all students, through the medium of sport and exercise. UCD Sport provides a multitude of options for students to enjoy with over 60 clubs to choose from.
An Garda Síochána
An Garda Síochána, Ireland's National Police Service, is represented on the Board by a Sergeant ased in the community section in Dún Laoghaire Garda station.
Blackrock Education Centre
Blackrock Education Centre (BEC) - one of 21 such full-time Centres throughout the country - provides support for teachers and others involved in education in Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown County. It is financed by the Department of Education and Science (DES) and by contract work undertaken by the Centre, frequently by way of joint publications. The Centre was established in 1972 in Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock, Co Dublin. Since 1996, BEC has been located in the grounds of the IADT Dún Laoghaire at Deansgrange.
Public Leisure Facility Providers
DLR Leisure Services with facilities in Glenalbyn, Loughlinstown, Meadowbrook and Monkstown manage these public leisure facilities for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. DLR Leisure Services works closely with DLR Sports Partnership, helping us to provide excellent facilities and service during our programmes.
The Sports Forum
A key part DLR Sports Partnership work is the Sports Forum, representing all of the various sports clubs in the county. Every sports club based in the county can nominate one individual to represent it at the meetings of the Sports Forum where members tackle issues of mutual interest, discover methods of overcoming them and identifying coach/volunteer training needs. Three of the Sports Forum members represent the Forum on the board.
Disability Sports
The Sportsability Forum's mission is to support DLR Sports Partnership in the delivery and enhancement of its services by advising and supporting on key strategies and actions to achieve full access to sport and physical activity for people with a disability.
