Transition Year Active Dance Programme
Yearly
This 5-week Transition Year programme uses a mix of activity and dance along with educational workshops, to create an interest among teenage girls to participate in regular physical activity. Numerous studies have highlighted how girls' participation in physical activity is lower that that of boys and is characterised by a sharp decline during adolescence.
Run in partnership with ourselves, UCD Sport, HSE and local schools, activity sessions are for the duration of one hour and the key element of each of the sessions is to have fun while exercising.
The aim of this programme is to increase participation among girls in physical activity and sport thorough a mix of education and targeted activities.
