Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership held a FREE sports taster event on the 23rd September in the Samuel Beckett Civic Campus, Ballyogan. Just under a 100 people, kids and parents, participated in the activities on day. Activities included Judo, Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, Yoga & fitness classes.
The key aim of the event was to get all ages and fitness levels to get active, try a new sport, introduce them to local clubs and of course have loads of fun!
According to event organiser and Community Sports Development Officer, Rachel Sinnott, “This was a very success day, local people took the opportunity to link inwith the clubs in their area and try out new activities available to them. This is the first of many community sports events that I have planned for the area.' All the activities on offer were ones that you can pick up easily and where families can join in together.
She added, “We’ll have experts on hand for each activity to help out and demonstrate to you – plus, activities will be indoor and outdoor, so the event will go ahead rain or shine!”
“Be Active in Ballyogan” is just one of many free or very affordable sporting programmes that will be organised by dlr Sports Partnership this autumn, including the dlr Community 5k on October 7th at 2pm in Kilbogget Park.
