GREAT TURNOUT FOR CLUB DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR AT AVIVA STADIUM

The new Aviva Stadium at Lansdowne Road is better known as the home of soccer and rugby in Ireland but on Saturday last (August 28) it was buzzing with representatives from many different sports - from Frisbee to Sailing, Gaelic Football to Special Olympics and many, many more. In fact over 200 people from an amazing 31 different sports and a range of National Governing Bodies came to the venue to take part in a Club Development Information Seminar. This event was organised jointly by the 4 Dublin Local Sports Partnerships (Dublin City, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin County) and Wicklow Local Sports Partnership.
Launching the seminar, Minister for Children & Youth, Mr. Barry Andrews TD spoke of the importance of sport's contribution to our society and also commented on the growing levels of professionalism that has made its way into all levels of club administration. "Child protection, health & safety and good quality coaching are all now expected of club coaches and administrators and the Local Sports Partnership network set up by the Irish Sports Council is helping to provide this to local clubs".
